What do children's get from yoga?

Improving Concentration – The breathing and mindfulness that is a main part of any yoga practice helps children focus their minds more successfully. Yoga can stimulate their imagination, enhances their respect for others and promotes their inner –strength. There are numerous studies that have shown that children who practice yoga, particularly those with conditions such as ADHD, are able to concentrate and focus better.

Stress Control – Youngsters today are under stress, with competition in school and peer pressure, to name but a couple of examples. Yoga can help children learn how to relax and control their breathing.

Boost Self- Esteem – Yoga is non-competitive while still offering your child the chance to learn challenging poses, therefore feeling good about their growing ability without worrying about how they compare to others. This type of experience can help children feel more confident in their capacity to be successful in all sorts of other things as well.

A Healthy Body – Childhood obesity is rising and Yoga is a fun practice for children to get moving. Even if your child is a normal weight, yoga will help them to develop strength, gain stamina and flexibility. If your child is involved in any other sport, a regular yoga practice is a fantastic cross training activity that might then avoid injuries.

During children’s yoga practice we use games and stories to learn not just the foundations of yoga poses but also about animals, nature and basic anatomy. Children will fly likes birds, roar like lions, stand like mountains and grow like trees to name but a few. It’s fun, creative, energetic and peaceful!
